a different version of celebrating new years day

I have never heard of this version of the New Years holiday. Something new I can pass along to my bi-racial grandchildren and their children, as a learning tool from their silent ancestors.

Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday

All he ever wanted was for people of all cultures, creeds, race and religion to live together in harmony with tolerance of their differences, collaboration of their similarities and love for each other in spite, just because that is what God wanted for us!

Every one of God's children has a contribution to make and purpose for being here, no one single child more or less than the other.

A concept so simple yet, so hard for mankind to fulfill

one version of history behind Valentines day

Unless a person could travel back through history no one person can possibly know real history, except for what they have heard from generational stories and documented accounts.

This is one version!

A true story until it's proven not to be true

What's the story behind St. Patrick?

celebrating easter and when

Different people and religions have different reasons for and against it.

How is Easter determined each year?.

Why do you observe Easter Sunday?

remember dropping the May baskets when we were kids?

I always wondered why we did may baskets, left them on doorsteps, knocked and then ran...

M&Ms were first developed in 1941 and used as rations during WW II. They were originally in cardboard tubes which fit easily inside of cargo pockets of soldiers' uniforms. After WW II, they were manufactured for the general public (by 1948) and sold in brown bags!

Original Moonwalk by bill bailey - apollo theater 1955

I have always been a fan of tap dancing...This man is so smooth with it!

Look at the originals..... names are at end of video

All I can say is smooth & classy...

Cuttin loose at the 1970 Oscar award show-fred astaire

Fred was born May 10, 1899 in Omaha, Nebraska and died June 22,1987.

They say he never stopped dancing til his death. He remarried after his wife's death in 1980 and it is said he died in his wife's arms at age 88 from pneumonia.

Not many probably know this but Michael Jackson revered Fred Astaire and Mr. Astaire watched many up and coming dancer/performers but he saw Michael as his successor.

what is memorial day to you?

Armed Forces Day:

Those currently serving

Veterans Day:

Those who have served

Memorial Day:

Remembering those no longer with us who sacrificed their lives

american soldier by toby keith

Memorial Day is more than a holiday and a day off work, beer and bar b que....

We need to remember to appreciate waking up by the sunlight and going to sleep by moonlight...in peace each day!

We all live in the land of the free because of the brave...Let that sink in!!!!

Toby Keith was born July 8, 1961 and died February 5, 2024 at home in his sleep of stomach cancer.

He was a country singer, songwriter, record producer, actor and businessman.

His song rings true about his father being a one-eyed vet...Toby never served but his father taught him to always respect the veterans.

He dedicated much time to supporting service members.

some gave all by billy ray cyrus

Billy Ray Cyrus had a real life encounter with the man in his song, Sandy Kane in the late 1980s.

Too many of us take our 24/7/365 freedom for granted every day when we wake up complaining and go to sleep at night unhappy about how our day was.

I have the words on a plaque on my front door "home of the free, because of the brave".

Think about that this year at the family bar b que or while you are home from work popping open that beer!

god bless the u.s.a by lee greenwood

Melvin Lee Greenwood was born October 27, 1942 in South Gate, California. He has been a country music singer-songwriter saxophonist and harmonica player since the 1960s.

He never served in the military due to 3A deferment for family hardship because he was a father at 17.

still got your vinyl records or are you re-buying now?

This is just a quick history by one person but I am sure you can find more in depth versions.

Listening to vinyl records back in the day was something special but to be able to buy them now days is really awesome for those of us who want to recapture nostalgic memories.

I remember saving my allowance every week or babysitting money when I got it to go to the local store and buy a new record...If memory serves me right they were like .99  and .88  on sale, if you were lucky.

Those were the days !

what is juneteenth all about???

What actually happened when slaves were freed.

The truth about Juneteenth!

Juneteenth and why it is so important!

Juneteenth, (June 19th) was declared by President Joe Biden as a national holiday in his administration 2021.

the histoy of independence day, 4th of july

labor day we were always back in school

End of our summer fun and back to school with school shopping for clothes, shoes, school supplies.

That usually meant that you would not get the cool back pack or notebooks you liked, or the box of crayons that had the cool crayon sharpener built-in.

All you wanted was to have what everyone else had, anything less was embarrassing. On that actual first day you look around and see you aren't the only one who doesn't have all the fancy frills and it kind of made you give a silent sigh of relief.
